About the Speaker

Dr. Michael Heinrich is Professor of Ethnopharmacology and Pharmacognosy at the University of London, UK, and President of the International Society for Medicinal Plants and Natural Products (GA). He previously served as Co-Chair of the Research Ethics Committee at the University of London, Director of the Centre for Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy at the UCL School of Pharmacy, and President of the International Society for Ethnopharmacology. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Ethnopharmacology section in the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology, and a member of the Editorial Board for journals such as Phytomedicine, Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B, World Journal of Chinese Medicine, and BLACPMA (Chile).

Prof. Heinrich has achieved remarkable outcomes in the research of pharmacognosy and ethnopharmacology. For many years, from an interdisciplinary perspective, he has integrated methods from natural sciences and social sciences, focusing on the protection and exploration of traditional knowledge of medicinal plants and their products (health foods, botanical drugs, etc.), supply chain and quality control, as well as the internationalization of local medicinal plants, to address the rapidly changing global health needs. He has published more than 450 papers, which have been cited over 40,000 times, with an h-index as high as 97, making significant contributions to the field of Ethnopharmacology.
